Adopt-a-Classroom Project
Purpose:
To provide funding for the update and maintenance of class rooms
at the NSAC to improve the constantly changing student learning
environment.
Background:
The class rooms and other meeting facilities at the NSAC are
the heart of learning process. They have often fallen behind
in terms of teaching technology (computer presentation equipment,
network connectivity, wiring etc). Sometimes it is ordinary
soundings fixtures such as tables and chairs that will enhance
the layout of the rooms for projects, labs etc needs to be updated.
The amount of capital funding available from governments and
other internal sources is limited so we must turn elsewhere
for assistance.
Project Operation:
Each classroom, lecture Theatre, teaching lab or boardroom has
been assigned a "naming value" depending on size and use. Individuals
or class rooms may "adopt" the room for the stated amount which
will be deposited in the Teaching Technology Development fund.
A plaque will be mounted at the door of the room recognizing
the gift by the individual or class. All gifts will be issued
a receipt for income tax purposes.
Funds will be used to update the teaching technology
in the adopted room depending on it's needs, provide ongoing
maintenance for physical assets and help build an ongoing endowment
for all the classrooms at the institution. In as many cases
as possible the funding will be used to match requests such
projects to leaver it even further.
