Graduate & Mature Housing

Addressing the unique requirements of Graduate and Mature Students

This housing style has been developed to provide a clean, comfortable and convenient residence experience that addresses the unique requirements for graduate and mature students. No need to bring or purchase furniture, dishes, bedding etc.

Rent will include: large private room (linens & bedding available upon request), garbage removal, parking behind Chapman House, shared fully functional kitchen facilities, shared washroom\shower facilities (toilet paper & paper towel included), shared common room with cable TV, connectivity to local phone, cable and high speed internet in each student room, access to a shared computer connected to the internet, daily cleaning of common areas and bi - annual cleaning of the kitchen area (floors waxed and polished). Wireless internet is now available for all students in mature housing. All students in Trueman will share the same laundry facilities (located on the ground level).

Eligibility requirements: All students applying to this program must have a NSAC student number and be registered as a NSAC graduate studies program or be a mature student (defined as a student 23 years of age or older or a student in their fourth year of study). Exceptions to this policy would be: a NSAC student needing special housing over the holidays\summer months, co - op students needing housing during the summer months, etc.

Reserving rooms in the program: Students must send an application and a deposit of $190.00 to reserve a room in the program. This money will be applied against your first semesters rent.

Notification to withdraw from program: Students pay by the semester and are required to stay for the entire semester.  If you wish to move out at the end of first semester you must notify the residence office by November 1. In the event where notification was not received the student will be charged for the next semester. There are no partial semester payments - ie. if student chooses to vacate early in the semester- they still pay for the full semester.

Smoking:  All areas on campus are smoke free with the exception of designated smoking areas.  Please inquire about these areas if you are interested.

Pet Policy: No pets are allowed in this program.  Note* the pet policy that applies to the rest of residence does not apply for this program. 

Replacement of lost or broken items: Each student will pay a caution fee per semester that will cover lost or broken items belonging to the program. Each student is responsible for their own personal possessions.

Laundry facility: Each student will pay a laundry fee per semester.

Guest Pass Policy: a pass is not required for guests visiting students in their apartment area. However anyone who wishes to go upstairs must use the front door of Trueman and have a valid guest pass.

Cleaning: students are responsible for keeping their rooms clean, cleaning up after meal preparation and keeping common areas tidy and free of clutter. Students are responsible for keeping the kitchen clean including the fridge and stove (both must be cleaned in December, April & August by the students). Cleaning staff will clean the washroom\shower rooms and corridors daily. They will do a bi - annual cleaning of the kitchen floors ( including wax and high polish).

Garbage\Recycling\Composting: Aare the responsibility of the students. Garbage can be removed and placed in the garbage room by the back door. Recycling and composting containers will be located by the back door. Students are required to use these responsibly. Cleaning staff will ensure that the containers are placed at curb side on the appropriate day.

Dons\Coordinator - The Don of Trueman House will supervise this program. A coordinator is hired to over see the day to day operations of the program.

Fee Structure

Based on two room types:
Private Room ( includes rooms with one bed and rooms with two beds) & Deluxe Private Room (includes one bed and private half washroom).

Based on one student per room.

Private Room per Semester:  $2700.00

Deluxe Private Room per Semester: $2800.00

Laundry Fee: $30.00 per semester

Caution Fee: $20.00 per semester
