Certificate in Technology Education Program
The Certificate in Technology Education Program is intended to upgrade and diversify the technology background of Technology Education teachers presently working in Nova Scotia schools. It is approved for teaching license upgrading in Nova Scotia by the Minister of Education. The Program provides a variety of hands-on experiences and teaching methodologies that strengthen traditional skills and introduce new technologies to better meet the demand for qualified technology educators for the public school system.
This Program is an innovative collaboration between NSAC and Nova Scotia’s Technology Education Teachers Association, the Nova Scotia Department of Education and Acadia University.
About Technology Education:
Technology Education in Nova Scotia’s public school system has evolved from traditional Industrial Arts to a subject which fosters the development of all learners as technologically literate and capable citizens. Teachers must be able to develop, implement, and communicate practical, innovative, and responsible technological solutions to real world problems. This subject is organized under the following headings: Production; Communications; Energy, Power and Transportation; and Electrotechnologies.

Entrance Requirements:
You must have a valid Nova Scotia teacher’s license and be a current Technology Education teacher or a teacher designated to teach Technology Education.
Program Requirements:
You must complete 10 approved courses with a cumulative average of 65%. Eight of the ten courses must be from the NSAC course list; the other two courses are teaching methodology courses offered by Acadia University for this program. You will have a maximum of 6 years to complete the program.

How to Apply
Please fill out the Program Application Form and return it to Continuing & Distance Education along with your application fee and a copy of your Teacher's License.
Costs:
Tuition is $566 per NSAC course plus an additional program fee of $175 per course. NSAC reserves the right to make changes without notice in its published scale of charges for tuition and other fees.
