This
course will focus on exploring the fundamentals of environmental
stewardship as it relates to integrated pest management. Guiding
principles for responsible crop management including site knowledge,
choosing crops and varieties, building soil health, attracting
and protecting wildlife, managing pests, water use and prevention
of drift, pollution, and run-off will be covered.
This course will involve both classroom and field excercises,
please bring appropriate clothing and footwear.
Who Should Attend?
Those wanting to expand their knowledge and application of
Integrated Pest Management strategies.
Certified Crop Advisor’s requiring Continuing Education
Units as part of the CCA Certification process. The course has
been awarded 6 CEUs.

About The
Atlantic Certified Crop Advisor Designation
Licensed pesticide applicators who need to meet the training
requirements of the Pesticide Re-Certification Program administered
through the Provincial Departments of Environment.

Instructor
Professor Glen Sampson teaches topics
in weed and pest management at NSAC. He conducts research on weed
control, including strategies to reduce pesticide use. He has
delivered presentations on pest management issues across Canada
to industry groups, naturalists and continuing education students.
His research program includes biological controls for perennial
weeds, control of weeds in blueberry fields, herbicide trials
and topics in integrated weed management. Glen has been appointed
as Special Advisor to the Federal Minister of Health as part of
the Pest Management Advisory Council.
