Details
Preparation for the Pesticide Applicator’s Exam
This course teaches you the basic principles and practices of
safe use, handling and storage of pesticides. It is excellent
preparation for those writing the Pesticide Applicator's Examination.
Course content ranges from integrated pest management principles
to doing your own calibration and calculations.
Information is presented about
the ground application of pesticides but does not include aerial
spraying.
Teaching methods include classroom
lectures and problem solving exercises. Participants will write
the Pesticide Applicator's Examination on the last day of the
course. Please indicate on your application if you wish to write
the examination and for which province. To obtain your pesticide
applicator’s license, you must first pass the examination.
If you take this course, we administer the exam at no additional
fee and forward it to the Department of Environment. The Department
of Environment will mail you your exam result, and you may purchase
a license through that office.

by the Nova Scotia Department of Environment. For more information,

Any individual using commercial class
or restricted class pesticides that requires certification in
order to apply these products.

Instructor
Dr. Nathan Boyd is an Assistant Professor and weed scientist at NSAC. He has extensive experience in weed management in horticultural and agronomic crops. Dr. Boyd has conducted pest management research in potatoes, wheat, organic and conventional vegetables, and blueberries. The current focus of his research program is the biology and management of perennial species with an emphasis on the development of integrated weed management systems for lowbush blueberries.
