AGRI2000 - Transition to Organic Agriculture
.This five module course will give you an overview of the decisions and processes involved in transitioning to organic production. “Why Organic?” examines the definition of "organic," the structure of the industry, local and international markets and reasons for choosing organic production methods. “Organic Certification” reviews the purpose and process of certification, current standards and certification organizations. “Planning the Farm System” discusses the farm ecosystem and describes practical approaches to planning and managing organic systems. “Transition to Organic Crop Production” and “Transition to Organic Livestock Production” provide a brief introduction to principles and methods of production, giving you an opportunity to make informed decisions about using organic farming practices. The entire course is enhanced by group discussions and the use of Internet-based organic information resources.
NOTE: Costs for required texts are not included in the tuition. They must be ordered and paid separately.

How to Apply
You can take this course either for academic
credit or for non-credit. If you take this course for academic
credit, you must meet NSAC's admission requirements. You must
submit the Admission/Readmission Form with your application
and have the last academic institution you attended send a transcript
of your marks to NSAC's Registry Office. To take this course
for academic credit, follow the steps in the Academic

You also have the choice
of taking this course for non-credit. If you take the course
for non-credit, you are not required to complete assignments,
tests or examinations. You will not be issued a grade at the
