Jonathan Wort, BSc., P.Ag.
Ruminant Specialist , AgraPoint

Jonathan provides advice to farmers on livestock production specializing in ruminants. He has extensive knowledge of ruminant production and management, particularly sheep. In addition, he has experience in policy and regulation relating to livestock both provincially and nationally.
Jonathan has over 25 year of farming experience including sheep, beef and provision of custom farm services. As a producer he has experience in the importation and marketing of livestock genetics. He has been very active in farm organizations including both provincial and national commodity associations. Most recently, he chaired the Canadian Animal Health Coalition and sat on the Veterinary Drug Directorate Stakeholder Committee. In addition Jonathan is involved in teaching Sheep Production Courses at NSAC.
Jonathan is a founding director of two major national associations and was instrumental in the development and implementation of the Canadian Voluntary Scrapie Flock/Herd Certification Program. Jonathan also has a strong interest in farm safety and emergency response that has arisen from 17 years of experience as a volunteer fire fighter and first responder in his community. |
Bill Thomas, M.Sc., P.Ag., CCA
Field Crops Specialist , AgraPoint
Bill is currently a Field Crop Consultant with AgraPoint, has over 20 years experience in the agricultural community and is a certified crop advisor. Bill’s specific strengths include expertise in grazing management; forage quality; soil fertility and management; and extension education. Bill has a Diploma in Biological Sciences from the British Columbia Institute of Technology, a B.Sc. in Agriculture, majoring in Agronomy, from the University of British Columbia, and a M.Sc. from Dalhousie University.
Leonard Fraser (Guest Speaker)
Leonard is the Territory Manager in Atlantic Canada for Gallagher Power Fencing and is responsible for carrying out the mission of the company which is to provide solutions to producers for grazing and general stock management. The strength of the Company relies on the knowledge of its customers and Leonard’s main role is to provide that knowledge to the industry. Leonard farms in Pictou County, Nova Scotia, and has extensive knowledge in rotational grazing and proper construction of electric fence.
