The Bulk Milk Grader’s course provides the training necessary to be licensed by the NS Department of Agriculture as a Bulk Milk Tank Grader. This course is offered over a three day period with a combination of theoretical and hands on learning. The Instructors use a variety of methods including hands on training, power point presentations, a tour and discussions to teach the participants the course objectives.
Participants who achieve 70% on both the written and taste testing exams will receive a certificate from the NSAC Centre for Continuing and Distance Education. Successful participants will be licensed by the NS Department of Agriculture as Bulk Milk Graders.

Need to be licensed for grading bulk milk (i.e. bulk milk truck drivers).

Have Employees Who Need a Refresher Course?

Instructors
Blain Ling
Blain is a graduate of the NS Agricultural College in Agricultural Technology and has 25 years experience as a Lab Technologist with the NS Department of Agriculture Dairy Division. Following that, he was the Dairy Fieldman for 10 years. Blain was instrumental in the recognition of the need for training of bulk milk tank graders and has several years of experience in teaching this course.
John Hutchinson
John is a graduate of the University of Guelph’s Dairy School Course. He worked at Brookfield Creamery receiving milk and cream, making butter and testing products for fat content. John has 28 years of experience working with the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture responsible for milk quality control on farms and in dairies. John has several years experience in teaching this course.
