Why a B.A.?
A Bachelor of Arts in Rural Community Studies is a perfect
program to provide students with expertise to work effectively
in the social, cultural, political and economic contexts of
rural communities.
Careers with government agencies and community organizations
exist.
Program Objectives
• Understand the world in the broader sense.
• Develop critical life and employment skills.
• Learn to apply community development theory.
• Appreciate the values of rural life in Canada and around
the world.
Types of Courses
Community development, international development, history,
sociology, second language, political science, economics, literature,
project design and planning, etc.
Proposed Entry Requirements
• Grade 12 Academic English (65%+)
• Four other grade 12 Academic courses (60%+)
• Overall average at least 65%

• Internship option with a rural organization.
• International Study tour.
• Focus on case studies and field tours
* The Bachelor of Arts in Rural Community Studies is currently
in the development and approval process. Anticipated first
