Mainstream Canada
Mainstream Canada, Inc. is one of the leading producers of Atlantic Salmon in Canada. Its mother company, CERMAC, is among the world leaders in Atlantic salmon production. In spring, 2008, Mainstream visited the NSAC Aquaculture Centre and met with the students. The company proceeded to hire students to work during the summer on marine and freshwater sites. NSAC students have filled highly-valued positions in the company each summer since 2008. In 2010, three students were hired to full-time, permanent position in the company following graduation from NSAC.
Novartis Animal Health, Inc.
Novartis Aquatic Health Division is a leader in the development, manufacturing, sales and service of Atlantic salmon vaccines. Part of this division included a vaccine-testing facility in Victoria, PEI. Novartis has been employing NSAC graduates for many, many years and today employs NSAC aquaculture graduates both ad wet-lab technicians and as regional technical representatives.
Dept. Fishery and Oceans - Fishery Officer Trainee program
Employment in federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans, including careers as a Fishery Office, exists across Canada. Salaries range depending on position and classification, generally from $40-80k per annum. Currently there are three NSAC graduates working as Fishery Officers in Atlantic Canada.
