NSAC Recognized World Environment Day 2009

The theme for World Environment Day 2009, which was June 5, was 'Your Planet Needs You-UNite to Combat Climate Change.' Together, NSAC’s Campus Sustainability Initiative and Administration encouraged staff, students and faculty to recognize World Environment Day by considering their individual impacts on the environment.

Activities that were encouraged include calculating individual carbon footprints, cycling to work and making small changes to everyday routines. Cycling to work will honour both World Environment Day and Colchester Bike Week.

Erin MacPherson, Reference Assistant at MacRae Library, was the recipient of an eco-friendly NSAC prize package for her actions on World Environment Day. Erin has recently sold her car and made a commitment to walk or bike to work everyday.
