Rotary Group Study Exchange to Brazil

Two NSAC Alumni have been chosen to participate in a Rotary International Group Study Exchange to Brazil this Spring. The team will be visiting the South Eastern part of Brazil which has a high concentration of farming and ranching. For four weeks, the five person team will experience the host country's institutions and ways of life, observe their own vocations as practiced abroad, develop personal and professional relationships and exchange ideas.

Heather-Anne Grant, Class of 1998, recently joined NSAC as International Development and Research Officer where her time is split between NSAC’s International Centre and the university’s Research Office. She provides assistance with international development projects and is responsible for sourcing project funding for international research and fostering research partnerships, both internal and external to the university community. Heather-Anne would appreciate any one with linkages in Brazil to please contact her as she would like to use this unique opportunity to build partnerships between NSAC and Brazil.

Amy Sangster, Class of 1999 provides advice to farmers on livestock and field crops, specializing in ruminants with AgraPoint. Amy works with sheep, cattle and dairy producers regarding on-farm food safety practices and has co-ordinated lameness workshops and others on various production issues facing sheep, cattle and dairy producers. She is also actively involved in providing support for ‘Quality Starts Here’, a quality assurance and quality improvement program for the Canadian cattle industry.

Amy and Heather are two of four candidates selected from Rotary District 7820 which covers the Atlantic Region. The Team Leader for the Exchange is Ann Jones from the Rotary Club of Yarmouth. Team members participating in the Exchange will be in Brazil from mid-May to Mid-June 2007
